Face-to-Face Workshop
The ‘Building Habits That Matter’ (BHTM) Program is a ground breaking opportunity for Apprentices to enhance their interpersonal skills to turbo charge their careers.
The objective of the BHTM Program is to provide Apprentices with key skills that are often overlooked during the early stages of their apprenticeship.
Areas covered include:
The BHTM Program has been created for industry by industry. Future Institute, a Registered Training Organisation, in Partnership with Blanc Homes, are passionate about developing the next generation of tradesmen and women and have analysed the key challenges that Apprentices face in the early years of their career.
In addition, Future Institute and Blanc Homes obtained essential feedback from industry leaders to identify the key outcomes that would benefit the participants and employers as a result of this program.
Regardless of what industry your apprentices work in, this program will assist in enhancing performance and influencing positive behaviours.
I feel this is a great course for apprentices, especially is they aren’t obliged to research self-help/self-growth and interpersonal skills. The course has also prompted a lot of great conversations between me and my peers that we normally wouldn’t of had.
Just would like to say thank you so much, was incredibly engaging and an overall great experience!
“Western Power launched the BHTM course for our 3rd and 4th year apprentices in February 2024 to compliment the technical training undertaken over the term of the apprenticeship. The learning blocks are spread over a 3-month period allowing participants to reflect on each learning block’s theorical concepts and apply strategies to the worksite immediately for a positive cultural effect.
We believe the soft skills our apprentices are learning will set them up to be better employees in the future, as exposing them to concepts such as Emotional Intelligence, communication and building confidence lays the foundation for a successful career at Western Power”.
The Building Habits That Matter (BHTM) Program is broken down into six (6) topics which can be delivered over six (6) half day or three (3) full day face to face workshops. The recommended program duration is 4-6 months to allow practical application of the new skills and knowledge. The program includes eLearning modules and practical workplace applications for each topic.

Future Institute have designed the BHTM Program to be conducive to the busy workload of an Apprentice. Completing eLearning (underpinning knowledge) prior to each workshop ensures that the workshops remain interactive and relevant to the workplace.
Induction
There will be a 2 hour induction prior to the commencement of the program to ensure participants are fully prepared. This will include a demonstration on how to use the eLearning, understanding expectations and meeting fellow participants.
Interactive eLearning (Optional)
Online eLearning modules are provided for each topic prior to the workshops. Each module is carefully designed to provide an interactive experience and outline essential knowledge to assist in the effectiveness of the workshops. Each module is no longer than 30-45 minutes, depending on the participant.
Face to Face Workshops
A total of three (3) full day workshops will be conducted over a 4-6 month period. The workshops can be delivered at Future Institute’s training facility or delivered at your organisation or worksite with appropriate training facilities.
At the end of each workshop, participants will be required to complete workplace tasks to apply their learning. This application will be tailored to the workplace using real workplace projects and scenarios. Our team will work closely with your organisation to identify accountability options.
“The knowledge I gained about talking to people you wouldn’t normally talk to or find difficult to talk to and resolving problems with other people instead of coming to disagreements will really help me in the future. Those two topics, I think, would help a lot of young apprentices that maybe don’t have a good relationship with their host trainer. I would definitely recommend this course to them. At the start, I was a bit hesitant and thought that the course wasn’t going to be for me and that I would never use or need it. But I did what [my boss] said at the start and participated as much as I could and I’m really happy I did because I can safely say it will help me in the future”.
Cost of the program
$4,995 per day (plus GST) – $14,985 (plus GST) per program

Optional eLearning – $59 + GST per person (includes 3 Modules)
