Enhance your supervisors' WHS knowledge and remain compliant to the new WHS regulations.
This course is designed for supervisors and team leaders who work in the WA mining industry. It covers two Units of Competency (required to be held by statutory supervisors) to meet the WorkSafe requirements under Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA) 2022:
- BSBWHS411 – Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
- BSBWHS414 – Contribute to WHS risk management.
These units can be credited towards the BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, should participants wish to continue their professional development.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. To successfully complete the course, participants will be required to complete a short Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills assessment and be working in, or have access to, a mining-based workplace in which they are able to take responsibility for the work health and safety of a team.
This program is delivered as a highly interactive and engaging workshop.
The delivery model for this program includes:
- 2 day Face-to-Face workshop
- Comprehensive student workbook
- Assessment activities and scenarios customised to the mining industry
Assessment
The majority of the assessment for this course will be completed in the workshops.
Units
This program covers 2 units of competency:
- BSBWHS411 – Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
- BSBWHS414 – Contribute to WHS risk management
Topics covered in this course include:
- Introduction to WHS and WHS legislation
- Duties and responsibilities for WHS
- WHS policies, procedures and programs
- Identifying and implementing WHS training requirements
- Identifying hazards and conducting risk assessments
- Controlling hazards and reporting
- Maintaining WHS records
- Communication and consultation in WHS risk management
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Future Institute offers participants the opportunity to be assessed through recognition of prior learning to gain credit for their existing experience. Please contact us for more information about the RPL process.
