Future Institute of Australia case study with client
Summary
The City of Bayswater required assistance to re-define an induction for one of their depots. The induction covered all of the safety elements, however, the information was compiled into a PowerPoint presentation. This presented a range of challenges including:
- Inconsistency with regards to who was delivering and interpreting the training within the PowerPoint.
- It was difficult to confirm if the participant had understood the training.
- The record keeping system tracking WHS safety training was manual and very time consuming.
- The setting up and delivery of the PowerPoint Presentation was tying up important resources each session.
The City of Bayswater engaged Future Institute to transform a 40 page PowerPoint presentation into an interactive eLearning module with review questions and assessments. The finished product was to be supplied to the City of Bayswater as a SCORM file upon completion.
Future Institute Solution
eLearning Development Process:
Future Institute uses a consultative approach to develop eLearning for clients.
The eLearning included:
- At least 10 review activities
- 10 assessment questions (based on a pool of 20 questions that rotate) – to avoid participants sharing answers.
Learners Characteristics:
- Approximately 150 employees at the depot
- These include blue collar workers in hands-on roles (e.g. mechanics, gardeners, etc.)
Delivery
The module was created and finalised within a four week period. The client was extremely satisfied with the result.
